TGIF Steeler Nation!

-The Steelers practice from 1045am-1230pm today.

-Injury Report from yesterday. Full participant: Ross Ventrone, Limited Participants: Ike Taylor, Shamarko Thomas, Did Not Practice: Steve McLendon, Troy Polamalu, Ryan Shazier, Arthur Moats, Brett Keisel

-It’s looking more and more likely that rookie Daniel McCullers will get his first start at the nose tackle position Monday night. McCullers was handled pretty well by veteran Nick Mangold on Sunday so quick improvement would be nice.

-The Steelers lead the all-time series with the Titans 41-31. Remember that this includes games with the Houston Oilers. The Titans lead the series 19-17 in Houston/Tennessee.

-Congrats to the Steelers’ William Gay who has been name the team’s Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee.

-Here are your series leaders. Passing PIT Ben Roethlisberger 363 yards twice (2009,2012), TEN Gifford Nielsen 377 (1981)… Rushing PIT Willie Parker 161 yards (2005), TEN Eddie George 153 (1998)… Receiving PIT Jeff Graham 192 yards (1993), TEN Ernest Givins 156 (1986).

-This game is a reunion of sorts for several members of both teams. Ben Roethlisberger is reunited with former offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt who is now the head coach of the Titans. Whisenhunt, along with Russ Grimm, as passed over for the Steelers head coaching vacancy when it went to Mike Tomlin. It’s obviously a big week for Steelers’ offensive line coach Mike Munchak who was the head coach in Tennessee just last year.

-One of the big stories coming out of Tennessee this week is that rookie QB Zach Mettenberger tends to hold the ball too long. That could be a good thing for Steelers pass rushers.

-I just realized that history could be made Monday night. Both starting quarterbacks have last names that end in “berger.”

-The Titans have not lost a Monday night game in seven years. Then again they’ve only played two since 2010….

-It’s hard to say because he’s been hurt this season but I’m starting to wonder about Shamarko Thomas. I really anticipated seeing him more on defense this year.

-Antonio Brown is one catch away from reaching 80 on the season.

-Heath Miller needs 70 yards receiving to reach 500 for the eighth straight year.

-Mike Tomlin has a career record of 8-2 on Monday Night Football.

-Ben Roethlisberger is 10-4 on Monday Night Football but is just 4-4 on the road.

-The Steelers have four career shutouts on MNF. Most recently was the 3-0 win over Miami in that monsoon.
